Bereavement Counseling

The loss of a loved one is very difficult, with most people experiencing feelings of grief, loss, loneliness, anger, sadness or maybe all of these emotions. Hospice of the Valley takes special care of families by offering bereavement services to families and caregivers for 13 months following the death of a loved one.

We offer support groups, one-on-one counseling, groups for specific losses (a spouse, a child, a cherished pet) and other services to help comfort grieving families.

Hospice of the Valley also has published two books to help with the grieving process: Finding Your Way Through Grief: A Guide for the First Year, by Marty M. Tousley, CNS-BC, FT and Grief and the Healing Process: Understanding Our Losses, by Steven D. Averill, M.Div., CT, director of counseling and support services at Hospice of the Valley.
