Inpatient Locations
More than 90 percent of Hospice of the Valley's patients are served in their own homes. When the needs of the patient and family can be better met in an inpatient setting, the patients can stay for a short period in one of the agency's palliative care units. These stays are a transitional time to control symptoms until the patient can return home or be cared for in another setting.
Medicare and most insurance plans pay for inpatient stays when it is medically necessary. If a patient stays in the unit when there is no longer a medical need, the cost of room and board becomes the responsibility of the patient and family. A social worker will assist the patient and family to find ways to resolve financial issues.
Palliative care units are located conveniently throughout the Valley to serve people in their communities. In addition, five clinical offices support home care in each region. Inquiries about Hospice of the Valley's inpatient services and home care should be directed to the agency's main number: 602.530.6900.
