“Thank you for taking such great care of my grandfather during his stay with you. Your staff was absolutely wonderful and treated my whole family with such care and kindness. Your staff made his stay as peaceful as is could be and I want to thank you for that. Also, thank you for taking care of my grandmother, she felt so blessed to have such wonderful caretakers of her husband and of her. Thank you for making my grandmother her meals and allowing her to stay with my grandfather during his final days. We couldn't have asked for better care, thank you again! ”

“I want to express my gratitude to Hospice of the Valley. Not only were they there for my family and myself 4 years ago when my sister was stricken with cancer, but more recently for my mother, also suffering from cancer. They came to our home and provided compassionate care and amazing support to us all. My mother loved them all and felt comforted by their help. As things progressed, we moved my mother to Dobson House - the facility was beautiful and warm and welcoming. Her room made her feel at home and she had a lovely view of the trees and gazebo outside. They made sure she was not in pain and ensured that each of her remaining days were in comfort. I was so moved by their loving attention that I started donating to HOV through work 4 years ago and continue an annual gift each year. I know the time with my mom was a gift and I was able to enjoy every one of her remaining days. Thank you Hospice of the Valley for making such a difference in our lives. ”

“In addition to making a donation, I want to express my immense appreciation to the nurses who with incredible grace tended to our dear friend Robert Gottschalk in his last days. They allowed him to spend this difficult time with as little discomfort as possible and with integrity. Until one witnesses the work you do with such love, it is impossible to imagine how valuable it is. You are very special human beings and I admire you with the utmost respect. With gratitude ...”

“We’re very, very happy with Hospice of the Valley. I used to work in the insurance business and the saying was, 'It's not the aptitude, it's the attitude.' Everyone’s attitude (at Hospice of the Valley) is so great. They come into your house and they’re just like neighbors and friends. They’re like part of your family.”

- Leo Lenz , Sun City, AZ (August 2011)

“My aunt was admitted to Gardiner Home in July. She passed away two days later. Our family spent those two days at her side and was present when she passed. I just wanted to say what an excellent job ALL your staff did for my aunt, for our family while she was there and after she passed. The experience was wonderful. In today's fast-paced world, it's sometimes hard to find such caring professionals. You really made the last days so much better. I am grateful you guys provided such caring, gentle care and I just wanted to write and show my thanks to your entire staff. Your workers and staff are the most caring I have ever seen. I'll never forget the last dinner we had with my aunt the day she passed away. Thank you for your kind and loving support and services during this incredibly difficult time in our lives. It meant a lot to our family, and Karen was at total peace when she went. ”

“I feel compelled to send my thanks and gratitude Hospice of the Valley for the help that you have been to me. I am 90 years old, living alone, and used to being independent. I am a diabetic and have COPD, and am seen regularly by Ronda Wade, hospice nurse, and Diana Nahling, hospice social worker. On April 21 my condominium was flooded by a pipe bursting under the sink. The damage was considerable and daunting. On April 22 Ronda and Diana came to visit me. When they saw how much damage had been done, they told me that it was unsafe for me to be living there until things were put back in order. That very day they made arrangements for me to go and stay at Ryan House. I was made comfortable and welcomed through May 25 when my living quarters were finally repaired and ready. During my stay at Ryan House I was overwhelmed by the caring and competence of your staff. The nurses and staff took excellent care of me. I cannot rave enough about the help that I had from both the day and night shift through this difficult time. In addition to caring for my health, knowing that I had a place to go and feel so comfortable and welcome made getting through the repairs and work being done at my home much more bearable. Thank you. I feel that it is important that you know how much Hospice of the Valley care means to me. ”

“My Dad, James Relph, stayed at Dobson Home, a wonderfully homey and cozy location. We were able to spend those last hours with him in a place that was peaceful with wonderful caring people watching over him. I am so thankful for all of the support we received while my Dad was there as well as the ongoing support offered to assist us with our grief. I have recommended others to Hospice of the Valley due to the level and quality of services provided. Thank you for all that you do! ”

“Without the loving care of Hospice of the Valley at The Sherman House my brother and sisters and I would have been lost. The care and love shown to my father was amazing. You provided comfort to him at a time it was needed the most. You honored his past and his experiences and treated him with respect and dignity. You are all wonderful. Though we may never know if he would remember what was going on around him, he would be grateful as I am to all of you. The time I was able to sit with him in his chair on the porch and enjoy the morning sun in complete silence with each other is something I hang on to and visit when I need to. Thank you for that memory and many others. You are all angels. ”

“I recently lost my mother to cancer. She had been battling this awful disease since January 2009. In January 2011, she started getting really sick. Doctors ran many tests but there was nothing that could be done. She was my hero; she fought this disease till the end. Even when she was in the ICU, when they gave her the option of "being comfortable" or fighting it, she said she was going to keep fighting till there was nothing left to do. She did it all for us -- her three children and grandson. When she started getting sicker, doctors let us know there was nothing else they could do for her. That’s when we started looking into Hospice of the Valley. That was the best choice we could’ve made for her. They took care of her with such care! I couldn’t be more happy.”

“In my book, they’re saints. The dedication that those people have is unbelievable. If it hadn’t been for Hospice of the Valley, I don’t know what I would've done. ”

“Hospice of the Valley has been really good to me. Every time I need something, they take care of it. They got a medical bed for me. They got an arm chair so I can sit up and watch TV. When I needed a wheelchair and oxygen, they got that for me. The nurse comes two times a week. She checks my blood pressure, my lungs. She always asks me questions. The chaplain gives me spiritual help. She shares scriptures with me, we pray together. Sometimes we all pray together, my family, the nurse. I get the impression that everyone with Hospice of the Valley really cares about me. They will make you feel comfortable. Just accept everything that they want to give you ”

- Joe Pacheco , Phoenix, AZ

“I just wanted to express my deep appreciation for the many home visits of your bereavement counselor, Dee Unks. Even though my wife was with Hospice of the Valley less than 48 hours before she died, Ms. Unks came to my house - it must have been two dozen times - in a time span of more than a year. I simply can't express what her visits meant to me. With no family close to where I live, she made a huge difference, probably more than I will ever realize. I will not ever forget the care and concern HOV and Ms. Unks showed me. Thank you again so very much. ”

- Rudy Dankwort , Phoenix, AZ

“My Mom was put on Hospice of the Valley about three weeks before she passed. HOV gave us the names of private pay homes. When I selected one, HOV arranged transport and met my Mom when she arrived. The team members were compassionate and gave my mother excellent care as well as giving my family the emotional support we needed during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ”

- Doreen Kelly , Mesa, AZ

“My grandmother wouldn’t have been able to stay in her home if it wasn't for HOV. She received in-home care by some wonderful nurses and volunteers. They were all so nice to her. She passed away at your Coronado Home. They were all wonderful to her, too. I am so glad she got to spend her last days in a comfortable setting instead of the hospital. A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!! ”

- April Mihalik , Peoria, AZ

“Sunday will be nine months since my husband passed away in your palliative care unit in Surprise. I just can't express how wonderful everyone there was. Hospice of the Valley had been helping me care for him at home for about six months but there came the day when I could no longer do that. From day one we had nothing but caring and loving people become part of our lives. Tim looked forward to their visits and I was blessed with so much support. Now I am getting grief support, which has really helped me through my loss. These people are truly a gift from heaven. ”

- Christine Gee , Whittmann, AZ

“My sister was in Gardiner Home. The entire staff was wonderful! They were kind, compassionate and extremely conscientious. They enabled comfort for my sister and our family. I have recommended Hospice of the Valley many, many times from previous experiences and will continue to do so. We are so thankful for their loving assistance.”

“I have worked in the healthcare industry for 20 years and have never before seen the quality of care that was afforded not only my mother, but my family as well during this difficult period. We all marveled at how well our mom was cared for during her final days. The staff members…were consummate professionals in every way and demonstrated a degree of concern for all our welfare that clearly exceeded any expectation any of us had. You are to be commended for the outstanding work you do. Our family will never forget it. God bless you for the people you are, and the healthcare professionals you are. The world is a better place for your being in it. ”
