Pet Connections
You and your best friend can become part of Hospice of the Valley’s Pet Connections program. Pet teams visit with patients two hours per week in one of our inpatient hospice homes, or in a skilled nursing facility, group home, or occasionally the patient’s own home. Great therapy animals need only an interest in people, a gentle nature and the ability to work well with their like-minded human team member. No tricks or pedigrees are required, and any domestic breed will generally do. Pet teams are evaluated by one of two national organizations, each of which recognizes the temperament and skills required to be a safe and loving presence. Hospice of the Valley offers free workshops on how to become a certified team.
