Introduction

Teen Volunteer Programs

Hospice of the Valley has several programs for teens:

The Teen Volunteer Program trains teens to work in supervised settings with hospice patients. It's a chance to make a difference in someone else's life, to explore health care as a potential career and to meet school service project requirements. Teens also can train to become volunteer support group facilitators for the New Song Center grief support groups. Click here to apply.

Grief Speak is a program for teens experiencing grief and loss. Resources to help teens cope include a booklet and DVD, now available to order online.

New Song Center for Grieving Children offers ongoing peer support groups for grieving teens and young adults.

Teens in Nursing is a program for high school students interested in nursing careers. Students volunteer in inpatient settings under the direction of a certified nursing assistant. The program prepares students for employment and enhances scholarship opportunities. High school graduates who have participated in the program and choose to attain CNA designation will be given special consideration for employment with Hospice of the Valley. Click here to apply.
